ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH OF JENISON, MICHIGAN Our Mission: - “St John Lutheran Church provides a refuge, away from the distractions of the world, to receive the gift of grace from the Triune God, through Jesus Christ, by hearing and deepening our understanding of the Word, receiving the Sacrament and being examples of Christ’s love in the world”.
By way of explanation, St John’s wants to foster an environment where we leave behind all the worldly woes (media), all the daily struggles, etc. to come in and “breathe”. In attending church services, bible studies, outside activities, fellowship with like-minded individuals, it is hoped that the gift of grace from our Triune God increases, that we focus on Jesus and his promises and wisdom. As a result, we seek to be examples to others outside of this refuge to witness the difference in living and to plant “the seed” for their benefit. No cliches, no acronyms, no new ways, just basic foundations of being a Christian. |
St John Lutheran (LCMS) is located near Grand Valley State University and at the corner of Hudsonville, Allendale and Blendon Township communities.
Belief and Practice - With the universal Christian Church, The Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.
Being “Lutheran” - Our congregations accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone."
